Editorial Column: ARE THE STREETS SAFE? By: Taye Kitt As most parishioners and residents of our fine city have come aware of, the Royal Guard of Brittania had a smashing bit of success several days ago in bringing to justice a highly dangerous and very feared individual. This monstrous creature which went by the name of Zora Liliana, no doubt a name beget to her by some demonic overlord, but through the noble effort of our knights in white (sashes, of course), she was vanquished. However, this has all been thrown into confusion once more after the explosion that you all no doubt heard go off last night, and left naught but a pile of ash and a warped dagger. What fiendish plot has been hatched that someone would need to further desecrate a decapitated corpse? Or could it be even more sinister, and that someone has taken the dreaded soul to attempt to bring this fiendish assassin back to the land of the living as their own personal servant? No doubt, many a necromancer would jump at the chance to be able to have such a minion on their side. I, personally, however, see this as merely part of a much larger problem that strikes at the very heart of our city. Are we truly and properly protected? Despite our dual force of city guards and the Guardians of Honor's presences, not to mention our high sandstone walls and few points of entry, our city still has fallen prey to dangerous criminals and controversies. There are also plenty of rumors laying about, so we set to see if we couldn't verify or put a few of these to rest. I first decided to speak with one of those whose charge it is to protect our beloved city, and came upon Praetorian Laurana. After a short interview, we were let know that she was aware of the explosion last night that marred our beautiful town square. When questioned as to the status of the rumor of the murderer being a comrade, she mysteriously replied with the fact that the deceased was not on the roster. Well, we would hardly expect an assassin to be on a roster, would we? Further muddying the issue, she claimed to have had a few encounters with the deceased, and she still appeared to be in prime condition. It's this humble reporters belief that perchance there is more here than meets the eye! When asked about what the best way to survive a deadly assault from a murderer was, she responded simply with 'I'm a Praetorian.' The good news is, according to our good friend Laurana, it's likely that anyone who wants to survive the next mass murderer would have a better chance as a Praetorian. So start applying today, folks! We also had a final parting question for the good lady. TK: And our last question, do you think that it was worth the loss of 17, possibly 18 of the Royal Guard to bring this one person to justice? PL: It's a shame when anyone is lost like that. [Ed. Note: We could not verify whether she was referring to the loss of the Royal Guard or of the murderer, further confusing the issue of whether or not the two were close.] We also tried to contact Thaddeus, the Royal Guard's Trinsic Branch Officer at the time of the incident, but he was unavailable for comment. His stand in, Royal Guardswoman Third Class Lilly Octavius said the Royal Guard had no comment at this time.
As many have noticed the posters about our beautiful city of honour, A highly dangerous criminal is on the loose! Reports and information are both sparse as to this nefarious suspect is concerned, but one thing is for certain; The uproar it has caused will not end until the wanted man is caught!
With a reward price for mere information cresting One Hundred Thousand Gold Crowns, you can be sure the Guard is busy checking out hundreds of false leads trying to find a needle in a haystack, with everyone reporting anything remotely suspicious in the hopes of being able to cash in on this opportunity. And with a capture reward ten times that amount, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and soldiers of fortune from all across the city and Brittania are up in arms and searching for this culprit. While even many of our own reporters are out looking for clues to cash in themselves, the Royal Guard has advised those of us who live in the golden city to be wary of any masked or hooded strangers, and to report suspicious activity to the Sherriff or to the Royal Guard. Of course, this announcement caused us to wonder about our defenders, the Guardians of Honour. At the time of printing, only one Guardian was available for comment, Praetorian Prefect Pro Temp Jin Champloo. Jin had this to say; "We will protect the city. Our duty does not change. We are actively searching for this culprit and have been for some time before the Guard's were. There is no reason to be worried of your neighbors, we will find the culprit. Report to us any problems. That's All."
When we contacted Head Officer Thaddeus of the Royal Brittanian Guard's Trinsic Branch how they were planning to collaborate with the Guardians efforts, He said that he had no comment at the time, other than stating that the Guardian's presence and continued vigilance are enough on their part.
Early this morning, Guards were summoned by Assistant Healer Burgess to the Trinsic Healers. The body of Healer's Guildmaster Enoch was found on the floor, in front of an empty patient's bed. The patient had been brought to the Healer's reportedly by several high ranking members of the Purple Guardians of Honor, the day before. A single wound was sustained by the veteran of over 20 years of service for the Trinsic Healers, Enoch, to his throat which resulted in his perishing. Assistant Healer Burgess was attempted to be reached for comment, but we were turned away by Healer Guildmaster Pro-Temp, Boris. Said Boris, "This is a tragedy the likes of which hasn't been seen in years. Enoch was a good friend of mine, and an upstanding pillar of virtue amongst the healer's in the area. He will be sorely missed, and we are doing everything we can to aid in the investigation." Praetorian Jin of the Guardians of Honor was present at the scene at the time of our interview, and responded to a few of our questions. Jin stated "As of right now, we have a very good idea of who did this. We are still searching for a motive, as well as a possible ally of the assailants. If anyone has seen a woman dressed in fancy powder blue clothing, please report it immediately to a Praetorian, or another member of the Guardians." When asked for further comments as to the nature of the crime, why guards were not present with a potentially dangerous patient there, or who the suspect was, Praetorian Jin declined to comment, citing Olympus precedence. The memorial service for Healer Guildmaster Enoch has yet to have the date set, but those wishing to attend should contact the Trinsic Healers for more information. If you have any juicy news stories, please send it to the Trinsic News Weekly, courtesy of the Trinsic Postmaster.
We are currently in the process of Allying with the Kingdom of Inethria, and until we have it finished we are blue to everyone. This will change very soon and we will be rewarring with all the guilds we were warred with, and more, including EKoC, Onyx, and Und/LICH. Please be aware this means that most every rp guild SHOULD be orange to us again, but KoI will be green, and won't be hit by our area effects or summons. This will be helpful for the peerless, champion, and other major hunts we often run with KoI. Also, there will be other IC ramifications, and those will be explained in due time. Anyone who is confused about this should please direct any questions to myself at ICQ 84763321. Thank you.
With the new year, we've been forced to change our schedule around quite a bit due to school, and So our peerless hunts will be moved to Tuesday nights from now on. Tentatively, we're scheduling Travesty for this tuesday at 9 PM EST. Hope to see you there!
Im not sure what really to say about those who cant seem to get authorised into the forums. Perhaps Balandar will leave some words of wisdom on this subject. I have no control over the authorising of the forums sadly. It was quite sometime ago that i had to get authorised but i know many have been waiting very long still. *note to the forum creators* Please help those who need it, my hands are tied on this one. Ive tried many times to guide members on it and i am not sure what is happening, I have checked member list ,many still say ''await authorisation'' .So please leave an icq number or a post on correcting this problem for the members who await the ability to post.
Starting this thursday at 8 PM EST, we will start running peerless hunts. This week will be Travesty, one we've done successfully many times. Please come with whatever character you would like to.
Congratulations, Guardians. Our heroic efforts along with the efforts of all those who aided have succeeded in buying the time for the council to negotiate with the Ophidians and return the staff. The Ophidians are in retreat. Please refer to the following link. http://town.uo.com/bnn/article_541.html
Also today, the press release for UO:KR. Announced is that there will be a new playable race for the new expansion, and all sorts of changes! Please refer here http://www.uo.com/UOKRpressrelease.html for more information.
An Exciting day for the Empire as we not only aid in the liberation of Skara Brae but also Serpents Hold and Vesper. A scouting mission earlier found that Inu was being held captive by Yrigor, and once he was defeated Inu only repeated one thing over and over. "Kingdom Reborn...Kingdom Reborn..." Apparently, the Kingdom Reborn will be upon us soon. Curious? Answers can be found if you seek them.
